Over the last decade, patent, trademark and copyright law has
undergone more change, more quickly, than at any other time in its
history. The American Bar Association Section of Intellectual
Property Law is committed to keeping its 21,000 members fully
informed of the latest developments in this ever-expanding
field.
The Section has over 87 committees, each dealing with a special
aspect of the law as it relates to intellectual property under the
statutes, common law, and the provisions of international treaties.
Committees are organized into ten major divisions.
Each year, the Section holds its Summer IPL Conference, which
offers CLE programs and networking opportunities. Other meetings
covering "practice tips" in specific areas of practice -
such as trademark litigation, enforcing and defending patents, and
patent practice - are offered also. CLE teleconferences are held
periodically.
Members receive the monthly Chair's Bulletin, the
quarterly IPL Newsletter, and an Annual Report.
Extensive course materials are published in connection with CLE
programming, and many single titles are also offered.
Two open online discussion lists - one for all lawyers
interested, and another especially for law students - are
maintained by the Section. A number of closed discussion and
distribution lists are available to members only. For more

Association Section of Intellectual Property Law, please visit http://www.abanet.org/intelprop/membership.html.
