From the moment 53 lawyers first convened in 1873, marking the
birth of the Cleveland Bar
Association, the Association has maintained, and expanded upon,
its original stated goals of upholding honor in the profession,
creating social and networking opportunities for members, and
assisting with the administration of justice and legal and judicial
reform. One of the first bar associations in the nation, even
predating the Ohio State Bar Association and the American Bar
Association, the Cleveland Bar Association has a lengthy,
distinguished heritage, crafted from the legacy - the ideals and
goals - of its first 53 members.
